The Government would ensure a smooth transition between the incumbent and new government and the sustainability of the development of Macao, the Chief Executive, Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, said today.

The Macao SAR Government hosted a reception today to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Addressing about 1,000 participants, Mr Ho said that the people of China had strived labourously and attained stunning achievements in the past six decades.

Since the emergence of the global financial turmoil last year, our motherland had adopted a series of strategies, which had not only ensured the social and economic stability, but also contributed to the global economy.

This demonstrated the increased consolidated national power and the nation’s vitality in the past 60 years.

Backed by the Central Government, Macao had experienced a decade of progress and development.

As the nation celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Macao SAR will also enter a new stage of development.

We should learn the words of encouragement delivered by Vice President Mr Xi Jinping previously, said Mr Ho.

Mr Ho also said that with the great effort of all the Macao people, Macao will enter a new phase of development under the principles of ‘One country, two systems,’ ‘Macao people governing Macao,’ and a high degree of autonomy.

We firmly believed in a better motherland and a better Macao in the future, Mr Ho said.
