The SAR Government has been dedicating to develop Macao as a regional trading platform and a worldwide leisure tourism center, said the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen.
Speaking at the seminar of International Conference and Exhibition in 2009, Mr Tam said the development of conference and exhibition industry would not only further promote the attraction of Macao’s tourism and to perfect Macao serving as a trading platform, but also changed the monopoly of economic structure of Macao.
He said the conference and exhibition of Macao was still in a infant stage that the Government and the sector were working hard for more opportunities for development.
The Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) and the Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta have offered new chances for Macao’s conference and exhibition sector. He said the Macao Government would strong support the sector to enhance co-operation with regional counterparts.
