On the first day of the 2009 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2009MIECF), there were 118 field procurement negotiations and business matching conducted, 10 projects were signed through on-site promotion, involving an amount of about 2.158 billion Macau Pataca until 6:00 p.m. today.

In signing ceremony held this afternoon at a communication reception party called the green business opportunities, Mr. Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary of Macau Department of Economy and Finance, hosts the ceremony, representatives of exhibitors from various places and government officials attend to witness.

Contracts signed including oil pollution processing, energy programs in Asia, indoor air purification technology, environmental protection type ethanol gasoline equipment agent for Portuguese-speaking countries, special environmental protection project for public transportation vehicles, hydrogen flame equipment used for environmental protection, supply of greening seedlings and flowers, cooperation on planting techniques and pest prevention and control, green food knowledge introduction, green mountain spring water, environmental protection travel and leisure projects, as well as friendly communication and coordination between corporations.

Signing parties include enterprises, public institutions, environmental protection industry organizations, as well as government departments, which were from Finland, Brazil, Portugal, United States, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.

In the next two days (April 3rd and 4th), the Organizing Committee will continue to assist the participants to negotiate for procurement and match business. There will also be a singing ceremony for participants who come with agreements each day at the on-site signing center.

Three workshops to be held tomorrow

Three major workshops will be held tomorrow (April 3rd) at the 2009MIECF. The "Energy-saving and Carbon Emission Reduction Workshop" and "Natural Disaster Management Workshop" will be held at the same time on 9:30 AM, and in the afternoon, the "Green Business Opportunities in Meeting Point: Environmental Protection - Business Opportunities – Communication ‘Environmental Protection Industry Communication Promotion’ Workshop" will be held at 3:00 p.m, officials, scholars, experts and corporate executives form both local and overseas, will discuss related issues and exchange ideas.
