Police Arrests Taiwanese Man For Making Bomb Threat On Air Macau Plane

Police arrested a Taiwanese man who claimed to be carrying explosives on board an Air Macau airplane bound for Taipei on Sunday night, said Macao Secretary for Security, Cheong Kuoc Va.

Mr. Cheong said at a press conference after the incident that the police had searched the airplane and that no explosives had been found.

The police believed that the man was mentally disturbed, and investigation had been launched to find out the suspect’s motive, said Mr. Cheong.

No one was injured in the incident and the passengers were arranged to be flown to Taipei by another flights.

At 21:41 last night (23), a Taiwanese man on board an Air Macao airplane claimed that he was carrying explosives and asked to get off the airplane. He was then overpowered by crewmembers and passengers and then handed to the Macao police.

The airplane, carrying 162 passengers and crew, was en route to the runway when the incident happened.
