Macau and Guangdong Cooperate in Fighting Cross-Border Crime

Macao and Guangdong police heads and officials continued to discuss further cooperation at their sixth regular meeting held in Macau from 19 to 21 February.

According to a press release from the Office of the Secretary of Security, they discussed specific issues as immigration control, fighting cross-border crime, arrangement in Mainland children adoption and right of abode in Macao, in addition to an update on progress made since the previous meeting.

Police authorities from the two sides also agreed on exchanging information of Mainland people overstaying and working illegally in SAR with a tourist visa.

Both authorities were committed to cooperation in cracking down cross-border crime, especially drug trafficking and economic crime.

Participants from both sides underlined that close links and regular meeting play a major role in fighting against crime and keeping social stability in the two places.

The fifth Guangdong, Macao Police Meeting was held in Dongguan, in June 2002.
