Macao and Zhuhai agreed to set up a taskforce to speed up the advancement of the cross-border industrial zone project in a meeting between high rank officials of the two governments.
Mayor of Zhuhai Municipal Government, Wang Shunsheng, who headed a delegation on a working visit to Macao, today (17 Dec) met with Chief Executive Edmund Ho and two of his secretaries, Francis Tam and Chui Sai On.
A joint press release was disseminated after the meeting, revealing that the two governments referred to their cooperation as "brotherhood" and agreed to step up on the cooperation on a reciprocal and complementary basis, in line with the trend of regional cooperation and the development of the two cities.
According to the press release, the two governments had reached agreements on the setting up of the cross-border industrial zone, and decided to set up ad hoc working group to speed up the advancement of the project.
Meanwhile, the two governments also agreed to seek faster progressions in the joint development of the Hengqin Island, cooperation in tourism and cross-border transport facilities through the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Group.
