  • Seac Pai Van Park’s newly-developed “Pavilion of Amphibians and Reptiles”, its “Aviary” and “Butterfly-Friendly Garden” are to open for trial operation on 7 March 2026. They offer the public opportunities to explore nature up close, and to learn about ecology conservation.

  • In its initial phase of opening, visits to the Pavilion of Amphibians and Reptiles are by reservation only. Tours will be provided by trained guides, to enhance public awareness of nature and ecosystems, and to educate visitors about the impact on amphibians and reptiles of illegal trading in wildlife.

  • Spanning approximately 1,080 square metres, the Pavilion of Amphibians and Reptiles is home to over 40 animals, representing overall 26 amphibian or reptile species.

  • The exhibits include animals rehabilitated by the Municipal Affairs Bureau’s veterinary care and ecological conservation team. There are also animals that had been pets but were confiscated due to being illegally traded, and ones abandoned by their owners.

  • Another new facility, the Aviary, features a steel-framed dome that creates a spacious and natural-style environment for birds. Sunlight filters into the garden, providing a comfortable habitat for avian residents.

  • Visitors can observe the birds from multiple viewing platforms at varying heights around the perimeter, providing diverse perspectives and vantage points.

  • The Aviary houses bird species such as the Scarlet Ibis. The Aviary is also home to some birds listed in the appendices of the “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” (CITES).

  • In collaboration with Hong Kong’s Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve, Seac Pai Van Park has established Macao’s first Butterfly-Friendly Garden.

  • The Butterfly-Friendly Garden is carefully-designed to provide an ideal environment in which butterflies can live, feed, and reproduce. The Garden also attracts a variety of other insects, which ultimately serve as a food source for birds, helping to establish a complete and stable ecological food chain.
