The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) and the Macao Orchestra Company, Limited are always committed to promoting music education. Through the joint concert programme “Music for Future – Music in the Campus”, IC and the Orchestra continue to bring music into local kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, planting musical seeds in young minds. The campus concerts of the 2025–26 Concert Season in the first phase were held across six local schools from 15 to 17 October, opening the door to classical music for young students through a diverse repertoire and in-depth explanations.
The campus concerts “Music for Future” in the first phase were held under the theme of “The Four Seasons”. Under the baton of Resident Conductor Tony Cheng-Te Yeh, the Macao Orchestra visited six local schools, namely Yuet Wah College, Sacred Heart Canossian College (Chinese Section), The International School of Macao, Escola Sun Wah, St. Joseph Diocesan College No. 5 and Lou Hau High School, performing and introducing symphonic excerpts by renowned composers such as Beethoven, Delius, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Copland to over 2,000 students. Through the arrangements that echoed the changes of the seasons, it guided the students to explore the connection between music and life and appreciate the beauty of classical music, nurturing their understanding and interest in music. The event was held in a lively atmosphere, with the engagement of participating students’ attention and enthusiastic response.
With long-standing dedication to local classical music education, the Macao Orchestra has launched the concert programme “Music for Future” as one of the Orchestra’s key educational projects. The Orchestra organises music performances with appropriate arrangements of repertoire for students of different age groups, and performs them in various ensemble sizes. Through vivid explanations and fun interactive ways, the programme allows students to learn the rich connotations of classical music in a relaxed environment, thereby enhancing their interest and their ability to appreciate classical music. The Macao Orchestra will continue to organise the concerts “Music for Future”. All schools are welcome to participate.
