The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today cordially congratulated Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor on her victory in the 2017 Chief Executive Election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the People’s Republic of China.

In a message sent – on behalf of the Macao SAR Government – to Mrs Lam, Mr Chui said he expected the two SARs would continue to work closely and press ahead with existing cooperation, based as it is on strong foundations. It would enable the places to combine their efforts in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and in the country’s development opportunities.

Mr Chui stated the two administrations should step up their respective efforts to create a more prosperous, more stable and brighter future for the people in Hong Kong and Macao, advancing further the achievements of the two SARs under the “One country, two systems” principle.
