With reference to some recent media reporting of the situation of Air Macau, the Macao SAR Government takes this opportunity to make the following statement:

1.The Macao SAR Government takes note of the present situation of Air Macau and will continue to monitor closely the operation as well as keep in close contact with the management of the company.

2.Given the high operational costs resulting from high fuel prices and the keen competition in the aviation industry, the local airlines are now facing difficulties in their operations. According to the reports of the International Air Transport Association, similar difficulties are faced by many airlines elsewhere and the year 2008 is a devastating year for the air transport industry worldwide.

3.The Macao SAR Government believes that the management of Air Macau will be able to overcome the present difficulties.
