Chief Executive Edmund Ho today (23 September) said that the MSAR Government would actively assist local and even enterprises from the Pearl River Delta investing in and using Mozambique as a trade platform to access other African countries.
The Chief Executive today commenced his official visit to Mozambique. During the meeting with the Mozambican Foreign Minister, Leonardo Simao, Mr. Ho was briefed on the future strategic development of Mozambique and the role of Mozambique in African countries.
Mr. Ho described the dialogue as constructive and praised Mozambique's enormous market potential. He said that both sides agreed to further develop the bilateral relationship and to facilitate mutual development in trade and tourism.
The Chief Executive emphasized that the Government was dedicated to providing assistance for local businessmen and entrepreneurs from the Pearl River Delta who are interested in investing in Mozambique and other neighboring African countries by helping them to understand the condition of targeted markets through related governmental departments.
Mr. Ho revealed that in order to perfect the markets, both governments would commence studies and would sign a series of protocol which included an Agreement for Encouragement, Reciprocal Protection of Investments and Visa Exemption.
The academic, cultural and tourism relationship between Macao and Mozambique had been reviewed in the meeting. Mr. Ho believed his visit would further strengthen these links between the two areas.
Mr. Ho and the delegates had met with the Minister of Higher Education, Science & Technology, the Minister of Industry & Commerce and the Vice-Minister of Planning & Finance. The delegation also attended a banquet hosted by Leonardo Simao.
The President of IPIM and Macao businessmen also visited several business organizations to discuss the feasibility of further cooperation.
