Preparations for 2005 East Asia Games progress on schedule

Secretary for Social Affair and Culture, Chui Sai On, today (27 July) praised the preparation for 2005 East Asia Games progressing smoothly and had confidence that all the required facilities would be finished on schedule.

Mr. Chui said that the authority would host a series of comprehensive sport events next years so that the experience in hosting big events could be gained in advance and would have a better preparation for 2005 East Asia Games.

He added that the authority would also assign representatives to participate international events in order to enrich their experience.

In term of promotion, Mr. Chui stated that the authority was promoting the events through the helps of the 4th East Asia Games Macao Organization Committee Ltd. Company, MGTO overseas representatives and some oversea privates institutions, hoping to attract more visitors to Macao to enjoy the Games. Meanwhile for the mainland markets, the authority planned to hold a series of related promotions.

The East Asia Games Executive Committee held the 18th meeting in Macao. Mr. Chui attended the meeting and met with representatives from East Asia countries and regions. The Executive Committee had reported the progress of the 4th East Asia Games.
