The Government Gazette published today (3 July) the names of the four members nominated to the Public Health Complaints Center.
Tam Shek Fan, who will be the president of the center, Weng Lai, Li Ka Hung and Bernard Wong Wai Kit were nominated by the Health Bureau. All members will serve a term of one year.
The Public Health Complaints Center will serve as a consultative body and will have the following functions:
--To receive complaints concerning the practice of health care professionals.
--To assess complaints from a technical and scientific point of view.
--To advise the director of the Health Bureau on administrative procedures concerning complaints and to inform the complainant on the procedure.
--To conciliate and to seek extra judicial settlement on disputes to which the Health Bureau is evidently responsible.
--To keep the public informed of their rights concerning public health services, especially the right to information stipulated by the Administrative Procedure Code.
According to the law, complaints should be assessed within 48 hours after being presented to the center.
