The President of the Macao Foundation, Victor Ng, today (8 May) confirmed that the future Science and Technology Center of Macao would be located on the reclaimed area next to the Cultural Center.

The world-renowned Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei had selected the location after he paid a visit to Macao last month.

"In accordance with Mr. Pei's suggestion, we submitted a proposal to the Chief Executive and it was approved," said Mr. Ng.

The 150,000-square foot center will be three stories high and will include a garden, car park and other facilities.

The president stated that the designing fee the Science and Technology Center of Macao was 24 million patacas, which would be paid by the Macao Foundation.

Mr. Ng said that the Science and Technology Center of Macao was a public project which would promote Macao's reputation internationally due to the fame of its architect, I. M. Pei.

Construction of the Science and Technology Center take more than four years.
