The 2021 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (2021GMBPF) offers a wide range of attractions, with a focus on technology elements. The event creates both online and offline communication platform for exhibitors, while promoting tourism and food products from Guangdong and Macao to rejuvenate the economy during the pandemic.

The 2021GMBPF, jointly hosted by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, will be held at Hall D of The Venetian Macao for three consecutive days. The opening ceremony held today (27 November) was officiated by the following guests: President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Lau Wai Meng, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region Wang Dong, Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region Zhu Hong, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Dino R. Kusnadi, Deputy Secretary-General of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province Lin Ji, Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao Paulo Jorge Rodrigues do Espírito Santo, Deputy Director-General of Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province Ma Hua, Chief Board of Director of the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Macau Chan Hio Peng, Director of Macao Government Tourism Office Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Director of the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau Chan Tze Wai, and Executive Director of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Sam Lei.

Displaying nearly a thousand branded products online while enriching offline event with technological elements

The online exhibition launched at this year’s GMBPF has attracted nearly 400 exhibitors from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Shaoguan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Macao and other regions, presenting nearly 1,000 exhibits.

This year’s GMBPF covers an area of 9,000 square metres with nearly 400 booths. In addition to the existing “Macao Featured Products Area”, “Guangdong Branded Products Area” and “The Belt and Road Exhibition Zone”, the Fair features a new “Smart Life Area”, which includes elements of technology that are in line with the latest developments. Meanwhile, the Fair will also exhibit and sell a wide range of branded products covering home appliances, technology and innovation, cultural and creative products, food, tourism, daily necessities, jewellery and more.

Online business matching helps enterprises establish relations, and business matching area facilitates business meetings

A business matching area is introduced to this year’s Fair, where a series of themed business matching sessions and promotion seminars of Portuguese-speaking countries will be held for buyers from Guangdong and Macao. Topics such as smart life, household items, office supplies, food, and products from Portuguese-speaking countries are covered. In the meantime, online business matching service is provided to assist exhibitors in establishing business relations with potential partner enterprises. 52 business meetings were arranged on the first day of event.

Guided tours organised for enterprises to learn more about branded products, well-known Mainland e-commerce companies to help SMEs “go global”

The 2021GMBPF Guided Tour for Guangdong and Macao enterprises also took place on 26 November, attended by over 60 enterprise representatives from Guangdong and Macao engaging in industries such as catering, food trade, and e-commerce platforms. They met with exhibitors from Guangdong, Macao, and regions along the Belt and Road, and were introduced to quality brands of Guangdong and Macao.

E-commerce giants from Mainland China are invited to hold promotion sessions at the event and share their experience in effective use of online platforms to expand the market with small and medium-sized enterprises. Thus, traders can learn to bring their products to the world through a variety of exhibition platforms and e-commerce platforms.

A wide range of activities to feel the charm of the Fair

This year’s GMBPF brings a series of excellent activities to the local residents and visitors, including free cooking workshops, lucky draws, mystery gift boxes with tourism products and food, guided tours and more. Influencers and famous broadcasters from Macao and Guangdong are invited to live broadcast their visits to different exhibition areas, introduce the must-buy, must-eat, must-play and must-see branded products and highlights of the Fair. Multiple electronic payment methods are available for visitors to choose from, enhancing their shopping experience at the Fair to the fullest with various shopping offers.

Encouraging green commuting

To encourage the use of public transport and green commuting, six free shuttle bus routes travelling to and from the event venue are available in the Macao Peninsula and Taipa. Free parking is also available at Cotai Expo Hall E of The Venetian Macao, on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited availability.
